The Russian authorities have declared Yale University an “undesirable organization,” banning its activities on Russian territory

In a statement, the Russian Prosecutor General's Office claimed that the university’s work is “aimed at undermining Russia’s territorial integrity, enforcing an international blockade of the country, weakening its economic foundations, and destabilizing the social, economic, and political situation in Russia.”

The agency also accused Yale’s Global Leadership Program of working to “prepare opposition leaders from foreign states.” It alluded to the late Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny, an alumnus of the university:

Among the Russian graduate of this program are leaders and activists of the extremist organization Anti-Corruption Foundation, who have used the knowledge and methods acquired at the school to escalate protest activity in Russia.
