Five-year-old’s death brings Ukrainian drone attack in Kursk toll to four
The death toll from Tuesday’s Ukrainian drone attack in Kursk has risen to four after a five-year-old child died from his injuries. Acting Governor Alexander Khinstein reported on Wednesday that the boy, who suffered burns over 30 percent of his body, died during medical transport to Moscow. According to Khinstein, five other victims (including the boy’s mother) remain hospitalized in Kursk, some in critical condition.
On Tuesday evening, Kursk’s acting governor reported a drone strike against a city beach, accusing the Ukrainian military of deliberately targeting civilians. However, journalists at Agentstvo have suggested that Ukraine’s true target may have been a nearby branch of the Defense Ministry’s 18th Central Research Institute, which produces radar and radio navigation equipment. One of the institute’s buildings is just 655 yards from the beach hit by the drones.
