U.S. reportedly considering sending another Patriot air defense system to Ukraine

The White House is considering sending another Patriot air defense system to Kyiv following President Donald Trump’s pledge to strengthen Ukraine’s protection against Russian attacks, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing two officials.

According to one official, the Trump administration has asked the Pentagon to present options for supplying Ukraine with additional weapons, including a Patriot system.

U.S. officials are also reportedly exploring the possibility of delivering Patriot systems through third countries, another source told the Journal.

Earlier, Axios reported that Trump had suggested Germany transfer one of its Patriot systems to Ukraine.

As the Wall Street Journal noted, this would be the first time Trump has approved the delivery of a major weapons system to Ukraine that exceeds the quantities authorized by the Biden administration.
